So, you want to build a timeless design and a lasting legacy.

Everyone knows how to do something. Whether it's playing a guitar, carpentry, training your Labrador Retriever to retrieve...we've all acquired certain skills in our lives, and it's only right that we should want to share the results of our hobby and also share what we've learned about how to do it well.

On this site, I'm going to talk about my experience with woodworking a canoe. I'll give a bit of history on the subject itself, as well as some background on how I got involved in it. I might also include some instructions on how to craft a canoe, as well as any tips or tricks I've acquired through the experience. And, of course, I'll include lots of pictures of the results of this endeavor and of my enjoyment building it.

Please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think of this site. Also feel free to contribute to this site with your own tips.

One last thing, I want to give proper thanks and credit to those that have helped me to realise the dream of building such a beautiful boat. David Hazen for writing the powerful and informative book on building a strip canoe, and Michael Scott for instilling the beauty of the wooden boat at an early age. I have wonderful memories from summers spent in Nova Scotia watching Mike sculpt and form beauty in the Covey Island Boatworks. Currently living in California, Mike has overseen my progress from the start.

Thank you & enjoy,
Silas
